The team at FatCat Media were approached by tkLabs to partner with them to build a Digital rendition of hey popular Ecuadorian card game called Cuarenta. Cuarenta is the Spanish word for the number 40 and is the national card game of Ecuador. The card game is deeply embedded in the culture and is rumored to have been created by Ecuador’s Mountain Cowboys known as Chagras.
Concept & Solution
FatCat Media spearheaded the project by creating the user experience and all of the artwork associated with the application including logo and branding. Because Cuarenta was a very popular game deeply embedded in it’s culture, it was important for us to maintain a high level of authenticity. We decided to create animated backgrounds for the game of the countries most pristine and iconic locations. The Galapagos, San Rafael Waterfall, and Chimborazo Volcano Mountain. The UX was driving by simplistic gestures & flowing graphics, created a very smooth and relaxing user experience. Project completion from inception to finish product in less than 30 days to meet a very strict deadline.
Results & Benefits
Released on iTunes app store, Cuarenta has and steadily increased its user base with five-star rating. This has also increased engagement and awareness of tkLabs.
